Nordic Network for Electric Aviation - NEA 3.0

Project 2026 - 2029
Nordic Forward: Resilience and competitiveness for 2050 Active

Building on NEA 1.0 and 2.0, and aligned with the Gothenburg and Fredrikstad declarations and related ministerial dialogue, NEA 3.0 provides neutral, comparable decision supported by assembling and structuring information across Nordic countries to support action among industry and government.
The project targets three interdependent bottlenecks that must be solved in parallel:
1. Fly the aircraft,
2. Build the market,
3. Implement the infrastructure.

A unique strength is the consortium’s value-chain coverage, bringing together aircraft and ecosystem actors, airports and airport owners/operators, airlines, and regional/municipal innovation partners—enabling real-world validation and rapid adoption of results.

Impact

Over the project period March 1st, 2026 to February 29th, 2029, NEA 3.0 will deliver actionable outputs including a Nordic trade study and shared vision for test arenas and flight readiness, NEA Vision Tool 2.0. Its route and network simulation, infrastructure maturity and charging capacity modelling, airport investment scenarios, and a funding/policy layer. There will also be a Nordic best-practice concept for infrastructure implementation, including business models and CapEx de-risking, and a blueprints/templates that regions and municipalities can adopt to accelerate local ecosystems. The project also establishes a knowledge bank, updated policy mapping (“state of the union”), and a concrete “life after NEA” plan for continuity.

With NOK 4,000,000 in requested support, NEA 3.0 will accelerate the pathway to commercial electric aviation in the Nordics and strengthen Nordic competitiveness toward 2030.
