Open call for interest: Nordic Ethical AI Sandbox Workshop 4

Closed

We are excited to conclude the Nordic Ethical AI Sandbox series and announce the fourth and final workshop, run in collaboration with Accenture and Silo AI. The Nordic Ethical AI Sandbox is a pilot initiative aimed at supporting Nordic companies in building capabilities to design, develop, and deploy ethical and responsible AI solutions.

The fourth sandbox workshop will focus on transparency and explainability in AI. Building transparent and explainable AI systems is a critical part of taking a responsible approach to AI and is also addressed in many regulatory initiatives on data and AI. AI transparency and explainability also helps with ensuring that decisions made by AI are fair and non-discriminatory.

This workshop aims to gathering insights around practical ways organizations can enhance transparency and explainability across the lifecycle of AI, and to understand how Nordic organizations are approaching this topic today.

We are looking for participants to the fourth sandbox workshop, focused on AI Lifecycle Management to ensure transparent and explainable AI systems, on April 29, 13-16 CET.

Workshop 4: AI Lifecycle Management – Ethical considerations, methods and safeguards for ensuring transparent and explainable AI systems

When29. April, 13.00-16.00 CET
WhereOnline

Target group: We are looking for 7-10 Nordic companies from different industries that meet the below criteria:

  • A company that has integrated AI into its products, services, or operational processes, requiring attention to transparency or explainability
  • A company that offers B2B tools or services aimed at supporting their clients with enhancing transparency and explainability in AI

Each organization is recommended to bring 1-2 representatives to the workshop.

Format & Agenda: This is an interactive workshop, facilitated by industry experts on ethical and responsible AI. During the workshop, participating companies will engage in discussions about how to enhance transparency and explainability of AI systems across the AI life cycle. They will explore various techniques and solutions designed to manage these aspects effectively.

Examples of topics to be covered in the workshop on April 29:

  • What are current challenges faced by Nordic organizations regarding designing, developing and deploying transparent and explainable AI systems?
  • What methods, mitigations or controls can be leveraged across the AI lifecycle to ensure transparent and explainable AI systems?

Expected Output: The workshop will be a closed session, but the insights and learnings generated will be summarized in a public case study and contribute to a Nordic Ethical AI Playbook. Each workshop is followed by a virtual seminar, open for the entire Nordic AI ecosystem to participate in.

The outcomes of this workshop are intended to provide practical guidance on methods, mitigations and controls for transparent and explainable AI systems. Our collaborative efforts will aim to offer insights and suggestions that are mindful of the unique technological, ethical, and regulatory landscapes of the Nordic countries. These recommendations will seek to assist in aligning AI development and deployment with the region's high standards for security, transparency, and societal welfare, contributing to the broader discourse on responsible AI governance. This initiative represents a step towards ensuring that AI practices in the Nordics not only comply with regulations, but also resonate with local values and needs.

About the Nordic Ethical AI Sandbox

Accelerating industry pressure to adopt AI, increasing ethical concerns from stakeholders and attention from policymakers is raising the priority among companies of ensuring responsible practices when using AI. Simultaneously, many are struggling with operationalizing responsible AI frameworks.

The aim of the Nordic Ethical AI Sandbox is to help building knowledge and capability for Nordic companies on how to address some of the common challenges when it comes to responsible AI. The sandbox is made up of a series of virtual workshops and seminars. At the end of the series of sandbox workshops and seminars, a Nordic Ethical AI Playbook will be published, which will include insights generated from all of the sessions in the sandbox. This playbook will serve as a tool for Nordic companies in building responsible AI capabilities.

This initiative presents an opportunity for companies to work directly with responsible AI experts and other members from the Nordic AI ecosystem to both inform the development of controls and methods to ensure trustworthy AI, and to strengthen their own approach to responsible AI.
