Open call for interest: Nordic Ethical AI Sandbox Workshop 3

Closed

After successfully completing the first two industry workshops of the Nordic Ethical AI Sandbox, Nordic Innovation is excited to announce the third workshop, run in collaboration with Accenture and Silo AI. The Nordic Ethical AI Sandbox is a pilot initiative aimed at supporting Nordic companies in building capabilities to design, develop, and deploy ethical and responsible AI solutions.

The sandbox is made up of a series of virtual workshops and seminars. Nordic companies are invited to register their interest for the workshops, whereas the seminars will be open for the entire Nordic AI ecosystem. The insights generated in the workshops and seminars will contribute to the guidelines and recommendations that will serve as a tool for Nordic companies in building responsible AI capabilities.

We are now looking for participants for the third workshop, focused on th AI Lifecycle Management to ensure robust and secure AI systems on 20 March, 13-16 CET.

Workshop 3: AI Lifecycle Management – Ethical considerations, methods and safeguards for ensuring robust and secure AI systems

The third sandbox workshop will focus on AI Lifecycle Management.  In AI Lifecycle Management, ensuring the security and robustness of AI systems is critical to safeguard against vulnerabilities and ensure reliable performance under diverse conditions. Security measures include implementing robust encryption practices, rigorous access controls, and constant vigilance for potential cyber threats.

To enhance robustness, AI models undergo extensive testing across a wide range of scenarios to identify and mitigate bias, errors, and unforeseen failures. This involves not only technical safeguards, but also ethical considerations to ensure decisions made by AI are fair and transparent. Through continuous monitoring and improvements, organizations can address emerging threats and maintain the resilience of AI systems, ensuring they remain both secure and robust against evolving challenges.

When:20 March, 13.00-16.00 CET
Where:Online

Target group: We are looking for 7-10 Nordic companies from different industries that meet the below criteria:

  • A company that has integrated AI into its products, services, or operational processes, requiring attention to security or robustness at any stage of the AI system's lifecycle
  • A company that offers B2B tools or services aimed at supporting their clients in ensuring the robust and secure use of AI systems, with a focus on lifecycle controls
  • Each organization is recommended to bring 1-2 representatives to the workshop

Format & Agenda: This is an interactive workshop, facilitated by industry experts on ethical and responsible AI. During the workshop, participating companies will engage in discussions about the critical importance of maintaining control over the robustness and security of AI systems during AI life cycle. They will explore various techniques and solutions designed to manage these aspects effectively. The focus will be on sharing knowledge and best practices for ensuring that AI systems are both resilient against threats and operate reliably under a wide range of conditions.

Examples of topics to be covered:

  • What ethical concerns and risks are Nordic companies facing when looking to use generative AI to augment their workforce, or automate previously manual processes?
  • What controls are required during the AI lifecycle to ensure robust and secure AI system?

Expected Output: The workshop will be a closed session, but the insights and learnings generated will be summarized in a public case study and contribute to a Nordic Ethical AI Playbook. Each workshop is followed by a virtual seminar, open for the entire Nordic AI ecosystem to participate in.

The outcomes of this workshop are intended to provide practical guidance on controls and processes for robust and secure AI systems. Our collaborative efforts will aim to offer insights and suggestions that are mindful of the unique technological, ethical, and regulatory landscapes of the Nordic countries. These recommendations will seek to assist in aligning AI development and deployment with the region's high standards for security, transparency, and societal welfare, contributing to the broader discourse on responsible AI governance. This initiative represents a step towards ensuring that AI practices in the Nordics are not only comply with EU regulations, but also resonate with local values and needs.

About the Nordic Ethical AI Sandbox

Accelerating industry pressure to adopt AI, increasing ethical concerns from stakeholders and attention from policymakers is raising the priority among companies of ensuring responsible practices when using AI. Simultaneously, many are struggling with operationalizing responsible AI frameworks.

The aim of the Nordic Ethical AI Sandbox is to help building knowledge and capability for Nordic companies on how to address some of the common challenges when it comes to responsible AI. The sandbox is made up of a series of virtual workshops and seminars. At the end of the series of sandbox workshops and seminars, a Nordic Ethical AI Playbook will be published, which will include insights generated from all of the sessions in the sandbox. This playbook will serve as a tool for Nordic companies in building responsible AI capabilities.

This initiative presents an opportunity for companies to work directly with responsible AI experts and other members from the Nordic AI ecosystem to both inform the development of controls and methods to ensure trustworthy AI, and to strengthen their own approach to responsible AI.
