The World Circular Economy Forum is an annually event organized by the the Finnish Innovation Fund. The forum has been held since 2017. It brings together business leaders, policymakers and experts to discuss, find and present the world’s best circular economy solutions. Nordic Innovation has been a partner from the beginning.
From Helsinki to Brussels
Last year the forum was back in its home town of Helsinki. This year the World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) is held in Brussels, Belgium, from 15 – 18 april. It’s showcasing the most impactful circular solutions from around the world. Throughout two days of program, and two days of accelerator sessions it will be zooming in e.g., on finance, food, forestry, future skills, metrics, mining and energy, regenerative growth as well as road maps, trade and value chains, which hopefully creates engaging discussions. All while focusing on circular solutions for nature and the economy.
Nordic Innovation at WCEF2024
Last year Nordic Innovation co-hosted the forum with Sitra. This year we participate as a regular partner, and we’ll organize a workshop and an acceleration session.
The workshop is held 16 April and it is called “Circular investing: redefining risks in the circular economy". It is organized with Venture Challenge with an target audience such as early-stage investors (angels, VCs, etc.), founders of circular economy companies that have raised or are planning to raise external funding and circular economy specialists.
Our acceleration session on 17 April, “Circular solutions for critical minerals sourcing across regions”, examines the diverse priorities, challenges and opportunities for critical minerals supply that are being addressed in five regions and their respective value chains. Lessons learnt will be shared among practitioners from private and public sectors as well as civil society.
Additionally, the session seeks to identify areas for future collaboration across the network of industry, government, market and community participants in these initiatives. The session is organized in cooperation with Smart Prosperity Institute and Materials Efficiency Research Group.
