The week will be packed with events and activities highlighting the opportunities and different takes on Circular Economy including talks, sessions, workshops as well as physical and interactive tours to best practice circular spots. Circular City Week is therefore an opportunity for companies to learn from others, interact with potential partners and stakeholders and show how their company is contributing to circular economy.

“Circular economy makes perfect business sense, and is good for the environment and climate, therefore it is important that we all are inspired to think in a circular way. Circular economy – good for business – good for climate”.

Hege Guttormsen, Higher Executive Officer, Nordic Innovation

The Nordic Region as circular frontrunner

Circular City Week will be an opportunity for Nordic companies to show their capabilities and offerings on the circular agenda. "The Nordic Space" will be created as a common area for Nordic companies to network and convene with stakeholders, present their solutions on circular economy and host events and activities. The Nordic Space will help positioning Nordic companies and the Nordic Region as global circular front runners.

Nordic Innovation will take part in the session: "A Practical Approach to Circular Market Transition" where Innovation Advisor Peter Munch-Madsen will talk about circular innovation including the Circular Economy Playbook and the role of public funding in the circular transition. By the end of the session, a discussion between the panelists will take place.

Circular City week is the biggest circular economy festival in the US, and it is the fourth time that the event takes place in New York.

The Circular City Week is a part of the Circular Business Models program. The program is one of the eight initiatives launched by the five Nordic ministers of trade and industry. The initiatives represent a determined advance towards a stronger and more sustainable Nordic region and support the vision for the Nordic region to be the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by 2030. They are also important steps in the quest to make Nordic business and industry green, circular, and carbon-neutral in line with the vision.

The aim of the Circular Business Model program is to accelerate the transition to a circular economy in the Nordics and to develop the Nordics further as agile frontrunners within circular economy and circular business models.

Project partner: The circular city week is run by Danish Clean Tech Hub together with the Nordic Network in the USA.
