Across the EU and the Nordic region, resource security is rapidly moving up the political and industrial agenda. As the green transition accelerates and new technologies scale, manufacturing industries are facing growing pressure to secure stable access to the materials that underpin production, innovation and competitiveness.
In this session, leading voices from European, Nordic and Danish institutions, manufacturing companies and industry organisations come together to discuss how the resource security agenda is evolving - and what it means in practice for industrial value chains and business strategy.
The conversation will explore how Europe’s ambitions around strategic autonomy, industrial policy and circular economy are shaping new approaches to materials, production and supply chains. From the EU’s Critical Raw Materials strategy to Nordic collaboration and industrial initiatives, the panel will examine how policymakers and companies can work together to build stronger and more resilient value chains.
With perspectives from both policymakers and manufacturing industries, the discussion will focus on the demand side of critical materials: how companies that depend on these resources are navigating increasing volatility, supply risks and geopolitical uncertainty - and what it will take to strengthen Europe’s long-term industrial resilience.
Speakers:
- Jessika Roswall, European Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular
- Sindre Bornstein, CEO, Nordic Innovation
- Lars Sandahl Sørensen, CEO, Confederation of Danish Industries
The session is organized in collaboration with LOOP Forum.
