COP29

Halfway through the ocean decade, we find ourselves at an inflection point for the world’s oceans. While marine activity is increasing across a variety of sectors, alarm bells are sounding for many indicators of ocean health. This underscores the need to balance growth with protection – in other words, to create a sustainable ocean economy in practice.

Is the Nordic region, with its marine traditions and strong innovation ecosystems, best placed to lead this development?

At this session, we will share concrete examples of blue innovations with green potential from across the Nordic region, while also providing a birds-eye view of where the Nordic ocean economy is now and where it might be headed in the future.

We will also examine how the conundrum of ocean wealth versus ocean health is handled at the policy level.
