COP30: Circularity in Minerals – how can we use what we have already?

13.11.2025

Brazil
COP29

Materials and critical raw materials are necessary for the green transition, scarce, and in the hands of a few countries.

We must work to recycle and reuse what minerals and metals we have excavated already, security of supply and resilient value chains.

Nordic and EU ambitions in recycling and reuse of critical raw materials are high, but both regulation and business cases are emerging.  We will hear from Nordic companies that have products with low environmental footprints and strategies to recycle materials and CRM.

Which concrete tools can be used to collect, sort and recycle? The largest deposits of CRM in the Nordics are in EE waste, industrial side streams and mining slugs. Can we use any of these for new materials?

Government and business must work together to make reuse and recycling of CRM a reality.
