What happens when we bring together tourism experts, software developers, designers, and business developers to supercharge the future of tourism with AI solutions?

Join us for this hackathon on the future of intelligent tourism and contribute in developing cutting-edge solutions to strengthen sustainability and competitiveness across the Nordic tourism industry.

The theme of the hackathon is using AI and smart technologies to supercharge the future of Nordic tourism. We will tackle challenges of seasonality, workforce, and the environmental impact of tourism.

The winner will be awarded with 200.000 ISK and services to boost the development of the idea.

Who can join?

The hackathon is open to everyone: Data analysts, prompt engineers, AI experts, designers, developers, business developers, tourism enthusiasts, students and startup founders.

You can join as an individual or as a predefined team.

Background

The hackathon is a part of the X-Nordic Travel Contest project which aims to identify opportunities for strengthening sustainability and competitiveness of the Nordic tourism industry. During spring 2023, the project ran a series of workshops across the Nordics where experts from the tourism industry met to discuss the challenges faced by the Nordic tourism industry.

Five key challenges were identified during the workshops: Seasonality, workforce, shift to sustainable business models, mobility and environment.

Emil has extensive experience of innovation projects and policy analysis in the Nordic region and beyond. Before joining Nordic Innovation, he worked for a research consultancy where he focused on digital transformation, inclusion, and sustainability. He holds an MA in Transcultural Studies and has lived and worked in Sweden, Norway, the UK, and Germany.
