The Nordic countries has a strong innovation culture, highly technologically literate citizens, and a public sector that are dedicated to offer valuable open data sets, in order to build new digital solutions.
At this hackathon we want you to put your skills into play and demonstrate how digital solutions can help the Nordics become a leading region in digitalization, AI and responsible use of open data. We look forward to have you on board – and to see what ideas you have in mind!
Three locations in the Nordics – one hackathon
The hackathon will take place at three different locations – at the same time! Our aim is to get participants across the Nordic countries, hence you can choose the location you prefer. We will make sure to connect across locations – so you will meet the rest of your Nordics peers.
Denmark
The hackathon will take place in Copenhagen and area in partnership with DTU – Technical University of Denmark. Specific location is soon to be announced.
Sweden
The hackathon will take place in Stockholm and area in partnership with KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Specific location is soon to be announced.
Online
The hackathon will take place online. You will get a link for the hackathon after registration.

What is the goal of the hackathon?
At the moment we are busy on preparing a lot of interesting open data sets that will make it possible for you to build and conceptualize awesome AI solutions solving relevant issues in our digitized society. We will be working around the following SDGs at the hackathon:
- SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
- SDG 13: Climate Action
- SDG 15: Life on Land
You are free to decide what AI solutions you want to build during the hackathon. But in order for you not to start totally from scratch, we will prepare a line of concrete challenges developed in close cooperation with the industry, who is asking for solutions. More information on the challenges will be announced soon.
Organizers and partners:
The hackathon will be organized by Rambøll Management Consulting and Happy42 and is funded by Nordic Innovation. The Royal Institute of Technology KTH, Microsoft and DTU Technical University of Denmark have joined as industry and university partners.
Background
The hackathon is part of Nordic Innovation’s AI and Data program which runs from 2021 to 2024. The goal of the program is to contribute to make the Nordic region leading region in digitalisation, AI and responsible use of data.
The main target groups of the program are Nordic public institutions who possess public data and innovative companies that can use public data to create new solutions with AI, which we hope will see during the hackathon.
Nordic AI and Data Hackathon is a fast-track activity launched in 2021. Rambøll Management Consulting and Happy42 were selected to execute the hackathon through an open invitation to tender in 2021.
