Bootcamp helps Nordic health tech companies closer to the UK market

The Nordic Propel Bootcamp is a one-week accelerator program for Nordic companies looking to enter the UK healthcare market. The aim of the program is to introduce Nordic health tech companies to the business opportunities in the UK healthcare market.

Through masterclasses, workshops and networking events, the Nordic companies learn about the British healthcare system and the potential challenges and opportunities for Nordic companies in entering the market. The companies also engage with UK healthcare experts and get the opportunity to network with potential partners and buyers.

Valuable knowledge and useful networks

The feedback from companies participating in the first bootcamp in 2023 has been very positive. They have received valuable knowledge and created useful networks which have propelled their entry into the market. Some companies are now looking into opening a subsidiary in the UK, some are engaging with the NHS (National Health Service in the UK), and some are working on a concrete strategy to enter the UK market in the coming years.

The program has provided participants with a solid foundation to develop an export strategy to the UK healthcare market:

“The input and connections I have received over the past week has probably been worth six months of research around entering the UK market. Overall, it has been a valuable week for us, and I would definitely recommend it to other companies.”

Matthías Leifsson, participant, Leviosa.

“The Propel bootcamp has really put speed in our UK expansion plans. Following the week in Leeds we have continued to nurture our new network, and we have signed up to Nexus to have an office space and community in Leeds.”

Stein Åge Davidsen, participant, Smartcrowding.

Continue in 2024

Eight companies participated in the first bootcamp in 2023. Building on the success and learnings from the first bootcamp, a second bootcamp takes place in January 2024 with nine companies from Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland.

Participants from the companies: Visikon, Cuviva, Njord Medtech, Lifeness, Sensom, Smart Crowding, Leviosa and Thula.

Background

The Nordic Propel Bootcamp is funded under the Life Science and Health Tech program which is one of eight initiatives launched by the five Nordic ministers of trade and industry. The aim of the bootcamp is to support Nordic small and medium sized companies in their efforts to export healthcare solutions to the UK market. The bootcamp is developed by a Nordic consortium in collaboration with Yorkshire & Humber AHSN.
