The large Danish companies both signed the Nordic Built Charter at Copenhagen City Hall on 10 December.

More than 100 companies, organizations and authorities from across the Nordic construction industry have now signed the Nordic Built Charter, and thus committed themselves to follow its 10 principles.

- In the Nordic countries we have for many years had high standards for energy-efficient building, and we want to contribute to spreading these to the rest of the world. We believe that a forum like Nordic Built can motivate the overall construction sector to come up with ideas on how we reach EU standards for zero energy buildings by the end of 2020. We also hope that cooperation with other partners in Nordic Built will lead to the development of new, exciting solutions - also for export markets where we see an increasing demand for energy-efficient building, said Thomas Kähler, Managing Director at Rockwool Scandinavia.

- Grundfos is working a lot with sustainability, and for this reason we feel that we have an obligation to support Nordic Built. By signing the Nordic Built Charter, we hope to be able to push the sustainable agenda further. In addition, we become a part of this network, where we can find new partners and share experiences. It is with Nordic Built that the more effort you put into it yourself, the more you get out of it, said Claus Witt, Managing Director at Grundfos.

The Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, Frank Jensen, opened the signing event by explaining why the municipality, as one of Denmark's largest property owners, stands behind Nordic Built.

- Many of the principles in the Nordic Built Charter match the image we have of ourselves - the same image that is being confirmed by the outside world, said Jensen.

Louis Becker from Henning Larsen Architects, ambassador of Nordic Built, presented the Nordic Built Challenge.

Also Lyngby Taarbæk municipality, Boligselskabet Sjælland, DOMEA and Konstruktørforeningen signed the Nordic Built Charter on 10 December.
